Trimix Instructor

The TDI Trimix Instructor course is designed for technical diving instructors looking to expand their qualifications and teach divers how to safely conduct dives to depths beyond recreational limits using helium-based trimix blends. This course equips you with the knowledge and skills necessary to train divers in the use of normoxic and hypoxic trimix, enabling safe and efficient dives to depths up to 100 meters/330 feet.

Duration: 4 Days
Dives: 4 Dives
Age: 18+ years

Rp 19.800.000,00 inc. Tax

Course Highlights

  • Train divers in the use of helium-based trimix blends for deep diving, reducing narcosis and managing oxygen exposure.
  • Teach gas management skills, including the selection and blending of trimix gases, oxygen management, and calculating gas volumes for extended dives.
  • Guide students in the use of both normoxic and hypoxic trimix gases, understanding their applications for various depths.
  • Instruct decompression theory specific to trimix diving, including the use of helium for decompression to reduce nitrogen narcosis and oxygen toxicity.
  • Teach problem-solving skills at depth, handling gas switching errors, equipment malfunctions, and emergencies specific to deep dives.
  • Conduct deep dives with students, focusing on equipment setup, pre-dive checks, and post-dive debriefing to ensure safety and efficiency.

Prerequisites

  • Minimum age 2l
  • Minimum certification as a TDI Trimix Diver and a TDI Advanced Nitrox and Decompression Procedures Instructor, or equivalent
  • Proof of 15 certified advanced nitrox or decompression procedures divers; minimum of 10 must be decompression procedures divers
  • Provide proof of 250 logged dives with a minimum of 20 logged Trimix dives outside of training, 10 of these dives must be in the last 12 months

What You Learn

  • How to teach the safe use of normoxic and hypoxic trimix for deep diving, with a focus on gas blending, managing helium exposure, and oxygen toxicity.
  • Techniques for teaching decompression planning and execution using trimix blends, including gas switching, accelerated decompression, and redundancy.
  • Methods for instructing students on managing narcosis, gas consumption, and trimix-specific equipment configurations (e.g., twinset or sidemount).
  • Classroom sessions on the physiological effects of deep diving with trimix, emergency procedures for gas failures, and solving complex dive scenarios.
  • In-water training for guiding students through dives to depths of 60 to 100 meters, emphasizing safety stops, decompression gas handling, and ascent rates.
  • How to demonstrate the use of trimix decompression gases and manage dive emergencies, such as hypoxia or gas toxicity.

HOW TO BEGIN?

Self-Study

Choose between two self-study options: access the TDI eLearning® platform with a full course account or receive a course manual. Study at your own pace before arrival, ensuring you’re well-prepared. Once on-site, you’ll participate in a classroom session with your instructor to review the material and reinforce your knowledge, setting you up for successful hands-on training.

Self-Study time commitment: 14-16 hours

With Your Instructor

Engage in practical, hands-on training with your instructor. You’ll develop and refine essential skills, covering everything from equipment setup to advanced diving techniques. Your instructor will guide you through real-world scenarios, ensuring you’re fully prepared to dive independently. This immersive training builds your confidence and competence, equipping you to safely and efficiently explore the underwater world.

Diving time commitment: 4 Days
